My name is Anthony Ashton, I have been in the building industry for over 30 years. I started off being a building labourer then progressed onto being a qualified plasterer. Over many years i have picked up a variety of other skills, some learning on site and also others from college. All of the products you see on this website are all hand made by our selfs, i work very closely with my importers to get the best materials (stone/timber), the oak is from europe, slate from brazil and the chamber cladding from china.
Our extensive range of chambers offers a very simple solution to create the perfect fireplace opening when installing your stove. With a variety of materials to choose from including natural stone and real bricks, there is certainly a chamber here to suit all tastes.
With our extensive range of chambers, we also use our own manufactured beams, completely bespoke. The beams that we use are air dried rustic grade oak and Kiln dried character grade oak. Depending on the climatic conditions, air dried oak beams can take anything from several months to a number of years to become ready to use. Whereas the process for kiln dried oak is to reduce the moisture content in the timber by drying the wood in a kiln. There is a unique difference between the two, and you can tell with the product, if its air dried the timber will have surface characteristics, such as cracks, this will give your stove a rustic look when its installed, whereas kiln dried has a smooth look and feel, it will give your fireplace a more contempary look.
Slate is a natural stone and there is no one the exact same. There will be a slight variation in colour and texture. There is four different edges to chose from, small chamfer, 10mm chamfer, bull nose and ogee, you can also have your hearth flat or box and lipped.
On arriving on-site to do the stove/open fire survey, we will assess whether it could be done legally and without effecting neighbors as this could become an issue with the environmental health authorities. Also we will give you the best advice on which stove/open fire that we believe would be the best fit for your property.
It is not always necessary to line the chimney, as long as it is in good condition and not leaking you would be fine. However it is strongly recommended to have the chimney lined as the stove produces much more heat than an open fire does and over time this could deteriorate the mortar in the chimney which could result in a leak. When it comes to chimney sweeping however, you are required to have it swept every year, this keeps the chimney clear of any soot and also any blockages.
Everything that we use when istalling your product.
